#44 I feel like Tony in West Side Story…
Something’s Coming - the end of the Blogathon! After this post, only 4 more! Wow. How did that happen?
OK - let’s see what iTunes has for me now. playing: Drive from the album “Now That’s What I Call Music! Vol. 6″ by Incubus
Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I cant help but ask myself how much I’ll let the fear take the wheel and steer
It’s driven me before, it seems to have a vague
Haunting mass appeal
Lately I’m beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there, I’ll be there
So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive, oh oh
It’s driven me before, it seems to be the way
That everyone else get around
Lately, I’m beginning to find that when I drive myself, my light is found
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there, I’ll be there
Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there, I’ll be there
Great selection! When this song came out, I was feeling disconnected from my life, not fully present. And I heard these lyrics wrapped around the steady ‘driving’ beat of this song and I thought, “This is a suggestion to live my life more fully - with open arms and open eyes. Get behind the wheel of my life and drive.” I also connected to the lyric about choosing water over wine. As a recovered alcoholic, it was reaffirming to hear this message.
Yeah. Have you ever felt that you were just treading water in your life? You know, time passes, days string together one after another and soon a year has passed and you’ve done nothing. Luckily, I heard that message and heeded the reminder to ‘Hold the wheel and drive. Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there.’ I’ll be present. I’ll be driving my life.
